For the brand’s 40th year anniversary, Adrienne Landau reached out to New York City’s patron saint of transformation and inclusion, Susanne Bartsch, to help produce the fall/winter 2017 presentation, titled LANDAULAND. Landau, along with artistic director, Saulo Villela, agreed that this was the perfect time to create an ideal world that truly celebrates diversity, freedom, and a safe space for all.
A glittering array of celebrities, including Beyoncé,
Madonna, Taraji P. Henson, Lady Gaga, Bella Hadid, Andra Day, Demi Lovato, Adriana Lima, Laverne Cox, Steven Tyler, and more, donned ADRIENNE LANDAU throughout 2016, demonstrating the versatility and longevity of the 40-year-old brand. The celebrity trend continues into 2017 with Dakota Johnson of the highly-anticipated film, 50 Shades Darker, featured in the February issue of VOGUE US wearing an ADRIENNE LANDAU fur and feather stole.
“At this point in time, we all need to rise up and continue embracing EQUALITY & INCLUSION despite all social constructs. I don’t design for a particular woman – I design for everyone. For fall/winter 2017, ADRIENNE LANDAU persists in celebrating and supporting LOVE, UNITY & FREEDOM of expression!”, said Landau. “For next season’s presentation, we decided to pay tribute to different types of people from all over who sometimes are referred to as ‘strange’ or ‘different’, but who in our eyes are beautiful for many reasons beyond physical superficiality. We also want to make mention that our children should know that taboos are among the weakest norms and that girls should grow up to be sexually free as men are taught to be.”
This February 14th, ADRIENNE LANDAU will present a colorful collection inspired by combining classic shapes, Chinese and Indian-inspired brocades, and modern-day streetwear. The new collection will be showcased in a series of vignettes titled LANDAULAND, shown on famed personalities like Amanda Lepore, and Ru Paul’s Drag Race contestant Thorgy Thor and Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 7 winner, Violet Chachki.
