About The Designer
Samira Buchi was raised in Lausanne, Switzerland – a small town near Geneva. Coming from a family of Mediterranean roots, her childhood abundance came from the arts of big cities and the cultural diversities of the places she and her family travelled. As a little girl, on a family trip in 1979, she remembers visiting New York City, standing in the middle of a gritty SoHo street, and fancying that one day she would live here.
She took her time to raise a family and pursue other creative endeavors that molded her influences and inspirations that would eventually lead her back to New York City, 38 years later.
With her children out of the nest at the age of 50, Samira Buchi left Switzerland to pursue her American dream. Starting from scratch in United States, Samira went back to school studying accessory design at Fashion Institute of Technology. She made it her purpose to learn everything about leather good – how to perfect the art of craftmanship, in a way that it’s strength and quality endures. The lines and construction of each bag provide a custom structure to suit each individual’s personality. It was here where she could finally let her irrepressible attraction to shapes, colors, leather and other materials express themselves.
