Carlos Campos Fall Winter 2018
by Austin Velarde
Pointed collar shirts and wide leg pleated trousers filled the runway of the Carlos Campos’ Fall Winter 2018 show.
This sleek outerwear collection inspired by style icon Juan Gabriel combined Campos’ classic minimal aesthetic with Gabriel’s “Charro” influence.
An ivory/deep navy pointed collar sport jacket and deep navy capa pullover shirt were two solid pieces from the show.
Campos took a visual interpretation of Gabriel’s most popular song “El Noa Noa” and created into “a print suitable for the modern disrupter” named the “Noa Stripe.” Applied to a pleated tailored trouser and a shawl collar band-member jacket, the “Noa Stripe” became the most visually appealing aspect to the otherwise insipid collection. The “El Divo” printed woven shirt and “Noa Stripe” pleated tailored trouser was the best look of the show.
