Leanne Marshall Fills Clarkson Sq with Rich Autumn Hues and Jaw Dropping Organza Gowns
New York, NY – Known for gorgeous silk organza and fluid movement, Leanne Marshall’s Fall Winter 2016 collection once again sent guests on a transcendent journey full of enchanting gowns and red-carpet worthy looks. The stark white runway glittered with intricate beading, watercolor prints, plunging necklines and her signature flowing silks.
The designer, Leanne Marshall, one of the most successful Project Runway winners, indicated that she wanted to hold her inspiration for the collection a mystery. Although a particular location did succor the vision of this season’s runway, the designer hopes that attendees will interpret the looks for themselves before the official muse is revealed.
The show opened with a series all black, cocktail length dresses, an unexpected route for the ready-to-wear designer. A scheme of the dark hue ranged throughout the top third of the show where the introduction to watercolor gracefully entered the realm through sashes, twisted textile accents and drapery. Sheer neutrals and metallic bronze prints conveyed earthy naturalness in the palette, and lush velvet piping and shoulder details provided texture and depth. Complimenting the overall shadowy leitmotif, autumn leaf tints in both opulent burgundy and mustard arrived within the collection in show-stopping forms. Hair and make up looks to complete Leanne Marshall’s ensembles provided by Aveda.
Abstract three-dimensional ruffles placed upon gowns with the utmost creativity and splendor adorned décolletage, shoulders and waistlines. Fanned and sheer paneled sleeves offset fitted bodices and plunging necklines. With minute cutout patterns, layers of ruched silks in crossover configurations adorned bodices atop stunning, sheer skirts. The designer played with the flowing fabrics by juxtaposing them with boots and more masculine shoe selections from shoe sponsor Mia Shoes.
Leanne Marshall introduced a sequence of metallic dresses aggrandized with intricate floral beading this season. The gowns stunned in their vast array of hand embellished details including pleated ruffle appliques and strategic lace embroidery. Other firsts for Leanne Marshall this Fall Winter 2016 were the use of gold grommets at the forefront of design and neutral raw rope-tied belted waists.
A group of hand-selected influencers were chosen to spearhead a social media campaign using the hashtag #LovelyLeanne. All attendees were welcomed to their seats with a card recommending participation in the project with a chance to win a special surprise from the designer herself. Guests were encouraged to post their favorite Fall Winter 2016 look on the runway and tag @LeanneMarshallOfficial and @Aveda, the shows beauty provider. Notable campaign participants include Neiman Marcus, Chicas Guapas TV, Maddie Potter of OtteStyle and Latisha Springer of The Girl in the Yellow Dress.
Amidst the nearly frigid weather, Leanne Marshall’s Fall Winter 2016 Runway drew a packed house. Celebrity attendees included Ta’Rhonda Jonesof Fox’s Empire, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, Miss New York Nicole Kulovany and Jenna and Maisy Stella of ABC’s Nashville.
