Men’s NYFW SS18 Overview
By Austin Velarde
The color red proved to be one trend that remained constant throughout all of Mens Fashion Week.
Whether it was present on the runway of Carlos Campos or the presentation of GUSTAV VON ASCHENBACH by Robert Geller, red reigned supreme this past fashion week.
The color red has always been a no-brainer addition to many people’s closets.
Red represents love, anger and especially sex appeal.
These three feelings represented by the color red express the passion people today are showing due to the current tumultuous political climate.
Lastly, the power of street style and it’s influence towards designers was observed last July.
Street style is demanding that designers create a more gender fluid feel to their clothes. This was the case at many of the shows such as Rochambeau, Raun LaRose and Palomo Spain.
As millennials are pushing for a more open minded and accepting world, the androgyny seen during Men’s Fashion Week is just the beginning towards a more gender-fluid future in fashion.
