On March 31, 2018, the United Federation of Teachers will host a Fashion Gala in partnership with William H. Maxwell C.T.E High School, Fashion Industry High School and Art and Design High School.
The purpose of this engaging and interactive event, titled “Teachers Rock the Runway”, is the collaboration of community connections between
Fashion Industry Partners and Post-Secondary articulations.
Our goal is to provide relationships while securing opportunities for the future; however our fashion students are not mainstreamed as yet.
We aim to create thriving new business models that help students in the direction of sustainable career futures and to promote high self-esteem that could bridge the gap between High School, College and Careers.
Last year’s Fashion Show, titled “Mode 2017”, attracted 300 attendees and the participation of 20 student designers.
It was co-sponsored by renowned Fashion Photographer, Shawn Punch, along with Barbizon Modeling School and FashionManiac/ Cheryl Gorski.
The event was marketed as a networking and showcasing affair for Design Students.
This year’s event will attract over 500 fashion industry professionals, politicians, entertainers, educators, parents and students from the New York City area.
