Optical Illusions: Gunee Hommes Spring/Summer 2016

Gunee Homme’s new musically inspired collection is a visual feast. The German menswear line takes fashion to new dimensions, where stunning avant-garde illustrations meet bold and contemporary styles. Combining graphic motifs based on musical pieces with classical paintings and his own drawings, designer Eugen Laitenberger showcases his Spring/Summer 2016 campaign as a work of art.

The collection pays homage to Caspar David Friedrich’s famous “Wanderer above the Sea of Fog,” as well as Laitenberger’s own original work “Cube Cat.” His illustration, which features two cats and two mountains, is reinterpreted in a shirt that is inspired by the “sublime surroundings” seen from the top of a summit.

Every intricate, geometric pattern featured is hand drawn, giving the line a unique attention to quality and individuality. Appropriately entitled “Mountain Trip,” the collection affirms the label’s commitment to sustainability and tailor-made textiles. It extends upon Laitenberger’s first collection, “Prelude,” completing a fascinating story that exudes modernity.
