AKNVAS 2023 Fashion Trust Awards
To help bring attention to the initiative and assemble a strong group of Patrons and Donors, the Fashion Trust U.S. will be guided under the leadership of Laura Brown, Anne Crawford, Tania Fares, Tan France, Samira Nasr, and Karla Welch, with Shay Gipson as program director. The advisory board members include Mike Amiri, Carmen Busquets, Jack McCollough, and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, Fernando Garcia, Amy Griffin, Bethann Hardison, Kate Hudson, Simon Huck, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Miranda Kerr, Jerry Lorenzo, Alastair McKimm, Jennifer Meyer, Sara Moonves, Arianne Phillips, Kate Young, and Law Roach.
AKNVAS was founded in 2019 by Danish designer Christian Juul Nielsen. This advanced contemporary brand focuses on thoughtful, well-designed, innovative clothing for discerning and dynamic women and men. Clients can expect luxury-level products designed to move seamlessly from day to evening, focusing on the drape, flattering silhouettes, innovative knits, and an elevated palette. Drawing from Nielsen’s previous roles at Dior and Oscar de la Renta, the brand incorporates design techniques from his time designing couture gowns with each garment crafted with similar attention to detail. Since launching the brand, it has quickly become a favorite of celebrities including Kate Bosworth, Nick Jonas, Mary J Blige, Sabrina Carpenter, and Emilia Clarke.
About Christian Juul Nielsen
After holding design positions at European design houses including Dior and Nina Ricci, Christian Juul Nielsen has launched his own collection, AKNVAS. Nielsen says, “I started AKNVAS because I see a gap in the market: interesting and effortless styles designed for women who are professionals, lead dynamic lives and are engaged with the world around them. I am creating clothing for women who seek pieces that break the mold of traditional work-wear by creating garments that play with color, texture and drape while keeping a flattering silhouette top of mind.” Christian Juul Nielsen lives in New York, where he works as the Creative Director of Herve Leger.
