AWAKEN With KORA Organics

There is no denying there is a global ‘awakening’ or movement towards organic as more and more people become increasingly educated and aware of the health risks associated with exposure to non-organic products and foods that contain harmful toxins and carcinogens.

Because of this trend, more brands are aligning their products and marketing towards the natural and organic space, so it’s important to know the difference and what sets Certified Organic and in turn, KORA Organics apart.

Products simply labeled ‘Natural or Organic’ come with no guarantees unless they are certified by an independent body, because using and marketing these terms is unregulated. Many consumers wrongly assume these ‘Natural and Organic’ products contain ingredients that are minimally processed and that they don’t contain toxic chemicals or artificial fragrances. But unfortunately, due to the lack of regulation within the beauty industry, manufacturers can misleadingly label their products as ‘organic’ or ‘natural’ even though they contain processed, toxic and chemically enhanced ingredients.

From an article posted on the ORGANIC FAIR TRADE site:
“Did you know that the average woman applies more than 200 chemicals to her skin by using her skin care products in one day? Did you know that 60% of these chemicals are further absorbed into your bloodstream? These are two of the main reasons that organic skincare is one of the fastest growing areas of the beauty industry today. The more we learn about the bitter side effects of unhealthy skincare, the more quickly we will seek out other options.”

Therefore, it’s important to always look for a trusted Certified Organic logo to ensure you are receiving a Certified Organic product you and your family can trust

Why?
Certified Organic is the most heavily regulated ingredient system in the world and guarantees no toxic synthetic pesticides, herbicides or chemicals are used in production of ingredients or manufacturing of products.

At KORA Organics, our products are officially certified by the world’s leading international certification body ECOCERT Greenlife (founding member of COSMOS-standard AISBL)

The certification process includes a yearly audit of all registered brand owners and manufacturers to ensure compliance with the strict regulations set out by the certification body. KORA Organics products include ingredients that are certified according to organic farming regulations. This includes inspections of farm fields and processing facilities, detailed record keeping and periodic testing of soil and water to ensure that growers and handlers are meeting the standards, which have been set. Certified organic foods and fiber are spared the application of toxic and persistent insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers. In the long run, organic farming techniques provide a safer, more sustainable environment for everyone and more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits of using and consuming certified organic products and foods.

KORA Organics is committed to ensuring our products are free of:

  • Sulfates
Sulfates and sulfonates are surfactants or cleansing agents and used to create foam. KORA uses natural and organic plant derived cleansing agents that are free of sulfates and are proven to be gentle on the skin.
  • Parabens
Parabens are preservative agent that is known to be controversial and not widely used. KORA Organics uses only preservatives that are approved by COSMOS for use in natural and organic products.
  • Synthetic fragrances and colours
KORA Organics only uses natural or organic essential oils to scent our products, and the products reflect a natural colour derived from the ingredients.
  • GMO’s
Also known as genetically modified organisms. KORA Organics products are always GMO-free.
  • Glycols
Known as a solvent and/or preserving agent that adds emolliency and keeps the product from drying out. KORA uses naturally-derived botanical oils and glycerin in place of glycol based ingredients.
  • Silicones
Used in skincare to smooth and blend formulas, but known not to be skin friendly. KORA uses naturally-derived oil based esters and botanical butters to create smooth and silky textures.
  • Mineral Oil
Known as a heavy based moisturising agent derived from petroleum that is occlusive upon the skin. KORA does not use any petroleum based products because of the potential harmful effects on the skin and environment.
  • Petrochemicals (petroleum, paraffin)
Similar to Mineral Oil, they are known not to be skin friendly and potentially harmful. As an alternative KORA uses naturally derived plant based waxes.
  • PEG’s
Known as polyethylene glycol that is used as an emulsifier and/or solvent. KORA uses alternatives derived from natural plant based gums and waxes.
  • Animal derived ingredients (ex. Beeswax)
All KORA products are considered vegan, as we do not use any animal derived ingredients, except for organic Beeswax, which is a by-product and causes no harm to the bees.
  • Plastic Microbeads
Controversial exfoliating materials used in facial or body scrubs that are potentially harmful to the environment and wildlife. KORA uses naturally derived exfoliating particles such as Ground Oatmeal, Bamboo and Diatomaceous Earth powders.
  • T.E.A
Also known as Triethanolamine which is a pH adjusting agent known to be toxic. KORA uses naturally derived Citric or Lactic Acid as alternatives.
  • D.E.A
Diethanolamine is a wetting or foaming agent used in cleansing products. KORA uses plant oil and sugar derived foaming agents and fatty acids as the safest alternative.
  • Phthalates (DEP)
Controversial chemical based solvents used to extend the scent of a synthetic fragrance. KORA only uses pure essential oils which add light scent and skin benefit.
  • Ethoxylated Chemicals
Ingredients created by process of ethoxylation are known to cause irritation and may contain carcinogens. KORA does not allow any ethoxylated ingredients.
  • Formaldehyde derivatives
A bi-product of preserving agents and known to cause irritation and sensitivity. KORA does not allow formaldehyde derivatives.

By following the COSMOS guidelines surrounding natural/organic ingredients and sustainable packaging, all KORA Organics products are non-GMO verified, deemed cruelty free, not tested on animals, considered vegan (excluding the Noni Glow Face & Body Balms) and free of any added herbicides or pesticides.

TURMERIC BRIGHTENING & EXFOLIATING MASK

At KORA Organics, we believe that healthy skin is the most beautiful skin.

Our skin is our largest organ and it supports the life of all our other body parts. It plays a vital role in maintaining our immune system and works 24/7 to take care of us, protect us and keep us healthy. It makes sense to look after our skin with products that replenish it and fill it with the nutrients it needs to function at its best.

As an international model, mother and someone who is passionate about nutrition, health and well-being, having healthy skin has been important to me from a young age. In 2006, I started the development of KORA Organics—a company I founded on the values of making a transformative difference to people’s skin, their confidence, and offering them a healthier alternative to other brands on the market. We use certified organic and natural products for one simple reason—because what you put on your skin soaks in.

Along with a team of researchers and consultants in microbiology, aromatherapy and organic chemistry who specialize in organic and natural formulations, I identified active ingredients based on their natural healing and protective powers, such as Noni Extract, Rosehip Oil, Sea Buckthorn Oil and Green Tea.

KORA Organics launched in 2009 exclusively through Australia’s leading department store, David Jones and KORAOrganics.com. Since then, KORA Organics has expanded to over 200 retailers across Australia, including Sephora and in 2017, launched exclusively in the U.S.A in over 300 Sephora stores and Sephora.com. Today, the award-winning range is now also stocked globally across 25 countries, including; United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

We have created an award-winning range of certified organic and certified natural products to detoxify, nourish and revitalize your skin. KORA Organics products are highly concentrated and active, delivering visible results while restoring your skin to its optimal health. We love what we have created and we’re excited for you to experience our products.
