GatherNYC Presents Internationally Renowned Violinist Rachel Barton Pine & The Claremont Trio

GatherNYC Presents:
Internationally Acclaimed Solo Violinist
Rachel Barton Pine & The Award-Winning
Claremont Trio

New York, NY – Tuesday, November 27th, 2018

The revolutionary classical music experience GatherNYC has announced the final two exciting concerts of its Fall season of highly lauded “mindful musical mornings.”

Now in its second season, GatherNYC has gained popularity and recognition for presenting concerts featuring some of today’s most notable classical and crossover artists.

The groundbreaking organization has been receiving favorable attention from press and audiences alike for its refreshing approach to providing a communal musical experience, akin to the tradition of a religious service, yet the religion here is music.

On Sunday, December 2nd, 2018, GatherNYC’s featured artist will be the internationally acclaimed virtuoso violinist Rachel Barton Pine — an artist hailed by The New York Times as
“striking and charismatic” as well as demonstrating a “bravura technique and soulful musicianship.”

Pine is also widely celebrated for the versatility of her musical repertoire (from classical and spirituals to blues) and as a leading interpreter of the great classical and contemporary repertoire.

Her performances combine her innate gift for emotional communication and scholarly fascination with historical research.

“We are extremely excited and privileged to be presenting the virtuoso violinist Rachel Barton Pine as part of GatherNYC’s Fall 2018 season”, said Laura Metcalf, co-founder of GatherNYC.

“She plays with passion and conviction, thrilling audiences worldwide with her dazzling technique, lustrous tone, and infectious joy in music-making.”

To ring in the festive season, the renowned violinist surprises audiences, with the centerpiece of her program being the newly-commissioned Personas, David Wallace’s five- movement tour de force.

In Personas, the soloist embodies the lives and stories of women and men from the Hebrew and Christian Bibles.

With melodies and rhythms derived from heavy metal, bluegrass, Hebrew prayer modes, folk songs, and all eras of classical music, Personas delivers ecstatic rejoicing, a prophecy of doom, a political thriller, and an ancient love story. Renowned storyteller, Bill Gordh narrates interludes between movements.

Pine also performs Bach’s Sonata No. 3 in C major, and Coleridge-Taylor’s Deep River, which featured in her Music by Black Composers Project.

The GatherNYC Fall season comes to a powerful close with a highly anticipated concert on Sunday, December 9th from the acclaimed Claremont Trio.

Praised as “one of America’s finest young chamber groups” (Strad Magazine), Claremont Trio has been delighting audiences and listener’s with their charismatic, virtuosic, and deeply impassioned performances.

Formed in 1999 at the Juilliard School by twin sisters Emily and Julia Bruskin along with pianist Andrea Lam, Claremont Trio is the only piano trio to ever win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, and are winners of the Kalichstein-Laredo- Robinson International Trio Award.

Frequent guest artists at international concert venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, and the Library of Congress, Claremont Trio has also performed with such notable orchestras as the Nashville Symphony, Virginia Symphony,Pacific Symphony, and Utah Symphony.

“We’re thrilled to have as the final performance of what’s already been a wonderful season at GatherNYC, the wildly talented and exuberant Claremont Trio,” said GatherNYC co-founder Rupert Boyd.

“They’re considered, with due reason, to be the premier piano trio of its generation, and they’re sure to bring an exciting and brilliant conclusion to this fall’s season!”

Sponsored by Airbnb, Pampelonne, Goodie Girl Cookies, and Caffe Vita, GatherNYC’s invigorating one hour long Sunday morning concerts at SubCulture (located at 45 Bleecker
Street) also feature a brief moment of silence as well as storytelling from a member of the international Moth StorySLAM.
