#GivingTuesdayNow – Fashion Girls For Humanity – Gowns For Good Made In America is in Production!!!

Dear Friends,

Thank you supporting Fashion Girls For Humanity (FGFH) COVID-19 relief efforts for frontline healthcare workers facing dire shortages of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

In the past two weeks you have helped us raise over $20,000 which has allowed us to successfully begin production on our first 1,000 Gowns for Good Made in America medical isolation gowns.  The gowns will be ready by mid May and we will be donating them to three hospitals which are some of the most in need, as New York City has been one of the hardest hit areas.

Gowns for Good Made in America is our initiative to support front-line medical workers in the global battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.  The initiative uses our funding to support small businesses within the fashion and garment industries in the US that have pivoted their manufacturing to create PPE to keep their factories operating and their staff employed.  The PPE produced in these factories will then be donated to the hospitals with the most need nationwide.

Our gowns are currently produced by the NYC Manufacturers Coalition, a group of 4 factories owned by a diverse group of immigrants based in the NYC garment district with 70 sewers.  The facilities have all been properly sterilized and set up so staff will be able to work safely with proper social distancing measures in place and all safety precautions of wearing masks and gloves and disinfecting stations regularly.  The Level 2 isolation gowns are made from a saturate nonwoven material with TPU laminate, with overlapping back opening and elasticized cuffs.

In addition, our website which provides various resources for those interested in making PPE such as patterns for download and video tutorials to make face masks and gowns has been accessed by over 66,000 people in 135 countries across the world.  It is truly fulfilling to receive such positive feedback from communities around the world and see their efforts in creating PPE for those in need such as healthcare workers, first responders, assisted living facilities, and group homes.  We will continue to update the website’s list of hospitals and facilities that are seeking donations or purchases of PPE, as well as companies currently involved in producing PPE so that we can better help, connect and serve the medical and healthcare community to the supplies they need.  To learn more, please visit www.fashiongirlsforhumanity.org.

We ask that you help us SUPPORT OUR FRONTLINERS so we can conquer this current and future public health crisis together by donating to and sharing our campaign to help us reach our goal of $250,000.  Continued donations will allow us to keep rolling out the production of more gowns to be delivered to additional healthcare facilities in need.

With gratitude,
Miki Higasa
