The “We the People” Art Collection, created by Bettina Werner was inspired by the principle of the people’s self-government, which is the opening of the United States Constitution.

The Constitution states, “We the people of the United States in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America”

“We The People” Blue Salt Crystal Art Painting, 2010 ”We the People” blue salt crystal painting is inspired by the peaceful blue sky coloring the great blue oceans that compose America’s majestic East/West shorelines.

“We the People” are the first 3 words of our Constitution, which signify freedom for the people:
freedom of speech, of expression, of assembly, of the press, religious freedom, free enterprise, and freedom from governmental oppression. These are only some of the precious liberties, which created America’s free world, and celebrated with Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration Of Independence on the 4th of July.

Internationally acclaimed artist Bettina Werner, The Salt Queen, born in Milan, Italy in 1965, became an American citizen in 2010. A pilgrim who came to the New World alone in 1989, Bettina Werner was the first of her family to cross the seas from the Old Continent. She also is a pioneer who in the history of art invented the first use of colorized salt crystals as an art medium.
Bettina Werner created the “We The People” Art Collection showing it for the first time at her recent 25 Year Retrospective, at 7 World Trade Center on the 49th floor, in a 40,000 square foot space immediately overlooking “ground zero”, and a spectacular panoramic view of the New York City skyline. The event marked a crowning achievement in Werner’s career.

Werner’s innovative salt artworks are frequently exhibited in museums and galleries across Europe, Russia and the USA, including the Whitney Museum and the Puskin Museum.

In 2002, she established The Salt Queen Foundation, a non-profit educational institution with a mission including the celebration of artists whose free imagination is uniquely expressed through the use of innovative techniques and unusual materials.
