Marking their return to New York Fashion Week since the start of the pandemic, Libertine vibrantly showcased SS24 womenswear and menswear collections at The Gallery at Spring Studios last night.
With Johnson Hartig’s creative design eye, the highly anticipated SS24 collection certainly dazzled with Hartig’s latest designs.
Libertine Creative Director, Johnson Hartig, is known for his whimsical designs and flair using signature bold colors, prints, and unique materials. With Hartig’s creative vision, he has paved the way for the embellishment movement with screen printing, crystal/embroidery follies, and signature graphic illuminations. Since Libertine’s launch in 2001 to this day Hartig continues to revolutionize the ready-to-wear market for men and women.
For the Libertine Spring/Summer 2024 collection, Hartig draws inspiration from great American sportswear from the 30s to the 70s. This season is dominated by fresh clear colors and a large dose of red, white, and blue. Including signature and new eye-catching patterns, the apparel features an array of statement-making prints influenced by an abundance of 18th-century Chelsea plates that make for a surreal moment with sterling silver flatware in crystal, forming edging and fringes for a powerful contemporary tribal feeling like protective amour.
Throughout the collection, colorful florals take over – the ultimate joy and life force for birds, bees, and infinite insects. True to Libertine form, there are hearts on hearts on hearts in pops of red, white, and hot pink and hand-silkscreened collage pieces featuring drawings, photographs, and texts creating an almost Rauschenberg effect.
Libertine was founded in 2001 by Johnson Hartig and Cindy Greene, with Hartig now at the helm of creative. The Los Angeles-based designer draws inspiration from everything from art to science, resulting in an eclectic collection that ranges from dark and gothic to bright and kitschy. Embellished blazers and graphic prints are Libertine signatures, making for fashion that goes seamlessly from the workplace to date night. Bold wide-leg suits are made even more so with intricate, quirky prints, perfect for fashion-forward occasions. Ready-to-wear apparel by Libertine is more than an irreverent statement, as each piece is made to the highest standards of quality. Visit ilovelibertine.com for more information.
