Over the last few months, I would like to think we have all found time to deeply reflect. On who we are, what’s most important, and what truly brings us joy. For myself, the Spring 2021 collection is a reflection of the joy creativity and beauty can express. In a time
when we have all made sanctuaries of our homes, I bring you this collection from the lobby of my very own. They say ‘home is where the heart is’. Now the home is also where the dancefloor is.
Born and raised in Mumbai, Naeem learned the art of embroidery from the watchful eyes of his grandfather and father who designed intricate clothing worn by Indian royal families. Naeem moved to the United States as a teenager and began an apprentice for legendary American designer Halston at the age of 20. During his time with Halston, he immersed himself in the ethos of modern restraint and learned the craft of draping and cutting fabric to create a clean, elegant and timeless silhouette. Naeem eventually merged this design philosophy with the knowledge he gained from his family’s business, and the Naeem Khan design aesthetic was born.
Naeem launched his eponymous collection in 2003. Since then, his collections have adorned glamorous women around the world, including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Rachel McAdams, former First Lady Michelle Obama, Queen Noor of Jordan, and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, among others. Today, Naeem Khan garments are still hand embroidered in India by his family run embroidery factories and produced in New York City
