Self-Portrait NYFW FW2020 photos by IMAXTree

As Fall nears, the Self-Portrait woman adds varied and dynamic pieces to her wardrobe; one season now counts for all seasons.
Classic staples are reimagined in new fabrications. Semi-formality and contemporary sophistication are key. As is a focus on subtle, unexpected details, along with a complementary blend of sharp tailoring and Self-Portrait’s signature use of lightness and lace. Each element serves to enhance—and expand—the house’s array.
Neutral colors anchor Fall’s versatility, while interludes of brighter hues suggest quietly celebratory moments. Cloud blue, cosmopolitan gray, shades of khaki, matte black, off white and washed lavender stand with bold garnet pink and ruby red. Crystals, embellished on straps or pin-pricked across dresses, add a slightly nostalgic, nighttime-ready spark.
Silhouettes have progressed with elegant undertones: tulip sleeves open and shift, delicate filigree cutouts are attached at the neckline of knitwear, subtle bell shoulders appear, cardigan dresses are sewn long and fitted, and trench coats depart from the standard by implementing, for example, pleated lace capes.
Vegan leathers, wools and adornments are focal points. Joined, the offering is broadened; the Self-Portrait collection continues to move beyond party frocks and separates into a complete, comprehensive platform.
Footwear also sees a significant advancement for Fall, with a layered resin heel development on both pumps and boots.
