Street Fashion Week Brought Luxury Streetwear to NY Fashion Week

First-Ever International Platform Gives Voice to Streetwear Designers

New York, NY (February 2018)

Street Fashion Week(SFW) kicked off a 7-city international tour with its trademark fashion production to close out New York Fashion Week on Thursday, February 15th, 2018. Street Fashion Week is a luxury streetwear extravaganza that showcases emerging high-end luxury streetwear designers.

Held in the heart of NYC garment district, Street Fashion Week attracted a packed house of nearly 1,500 attendees celebrating streetwear fashion.

On Thursday, February 15, 2018, Street Fashion Week brought back its trademark fashion production to New York Fashion Week.

The first designer to take the runway was Indashio whose unisex collection was a gothic rendition of a futuristic military wear.

She was then followed by Heritage by America who presented their most recent collaboration with the NBA.

Next came Malanski, a bathing suit designer who displayed bold metallic pieces of heavy jewelry, corsets, and bodysuits.

To follow Malanski came designers Kris Mulave and Derrick Rich, two young Navy veterans whose love for fashion birthed Significant Problems.

The duo presented a military inspired collection that featured streetwear essentials and staples – sneakers, hoodies, printed T-shirts, and tracksuit pants.

Immediately following was designer Indigo Providence, who was then followed by PhreeArt, an artist who presented a Black Panther themed collection.

SFW runway event also featured the designs of Dominique of Faded NYC as he returned to the runway for the first time since his collaboration with Adidas.

Last to emerge was a small collection from Check my closet.

These are next generation of New York emerging designers being mentored under their Street University platform.

“Street Fashion Week is creating something new, fresh and rejuvenating to the fashion industry”, states Visionary and Founder Naomi Alabi.

“It’s the first of its kind, the only fashion show dedicated to showcasing streetwear designers during fashion week seasons.”

The runway presentations were mixed with music performances from Joogstarz and Brooklyn local rising star Aston.

At the wrap of the runway presentation, SFW CEO, Naomi Alabi emerges to present J Alexander Martin (Co-Founder of FUBU) with a “Pioneer Of Street Fashion” Award thanking him for his work. Jay took to the Mic to share what an honor it is to be recognized.

He went on to commend SFW for their work “When Damon John and I were coming up, Streetwear was taboo.

We didn’t have platforms similar  to Street Fashion Week to support our work.

I commend Naomi Alabi and Street Fashion Week for giving these designers a voice”

VIP guests enjoyed an open bar sponsored by Bartenura and Yave Tequila, a live art-work installation by RenoZaridze.

Reno is a Brooklyn artist who has designed collections for companies such as Vans, Converse,  Nike, and so much more.

The next stop for the Street Fashion Week 7 city international tour is Los Angeles on March 17th, 2018. For more information, please visit www.streetfashionweek.net or email brands@streetfashionweek.net

STREET FASHION WEEK

Street Fashion Week is a bi-annual production held in accordance with the global fashion calendar that seeks to propel and reinvigorate the conversation about Streetwear designers.

The innovative direction of “Street Style” is not inhibited to any genre of fashion, but taken from how fashionistas express themselves as individuals.

Heavily associated with music and culture, ‘street’ fashion is embodied by and propelled through popular artists, particularly in rap and hip-hop such as A$AP Rocky, Kanye West, Pharrell, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs and so many more.

Street Fashion Week seeks to capture the essence of the culture and passion surrounding ‘street’ fashion, while creating a platform for emerging streetwear designers to comfortably explore their craft.
