The Points Guy Sells South Beach Pad!
Entrepreneur and ideas man, Brian Kelly, set the travel-lifestyle industry on its ear in 2010 when he came up with a plan to enhance the travel experience using credit card points and air miles. Since founding The Points Guy, he has grown it into what Forbes calls a “powerhouse travel and lifestyle media platform . .” and was voted their #1 travel influencer in 2017.
In 2013, Kelly bought a home on Miami Beach’s coveted Prairie Avenue. It was a perfect getaway from the hectic pace of New York City, and at the same time ideal for tropical-style entertaining in one of the country’s main travel hubs. After enjoying the home for over four years, Kelly put it on the market for $2.74 million. The contract ink was barely dry when it was snapped up by the CEO of a spine orthopedic device company in Pennsylvania for $2.59 million.
The front of the gated two-story, 4,095-square-foot residence is dappled with towering mature palm trees and the backyard by palms and an ultimately private impenetrable hedge of lush tropical plantings that shade the large swimming pool in the heat of midday. Built in 1924 and designed by August Geige, the residence has been renovated to today’s standards while retaining the best of its Art Deco architectural details which add character. The Onare kitchen includes an eat-in area and large island with Wolf and Subzero appliances. First floor formal rooms open to the pool terrace with built-in grill and heated pool and the second floor has two ensuite guest rooms and a master with sundeck, a walk-in closet and a bathroom modeled after the Ritz Carlton Kyoto with an enclosed steam shower, freestanding tub and outdoor shower. A one-bedroom guest house gives the property a total of four bedrooms and 4.5 baths.
The Points Guy, Brian Kelly, recently sold his elegant Miami Beach home for $2.59 million, within dollars of the listing price after being on the market for only a few months. Listing agents were Joseph Schafer of Douglas Elliman and Sladja Stantic of Sotheby’s. Christopher Wands of Douglas Elliman brought the buyer.
